when did plants appear on earth?

The land was bare and life less when life first began on earth more then two billion years ago . The only plant life was in the sea.

* Then about 425,000,000 years ago a few small green plants appeared on land.

* They may have developed from certain kinds of green sea weeds.

* The first land plants looked very much like the mosses, liverworts and horn worts you see growing in damp and shady places.

* More complicated plants existed about 400,000,000 years ago . these resembled modern ferns , hourse tails and club masses. Ferns were the first plants to have roots, stems and leaves.

* By the time The first Dinosaur walked the earth , vast forest of seed ferns , ginkgoes , cycads and cordiatales streched across the land . These were the first tress to reproduce by seeds.

* Pines and other conifers ( cone bearing trees) developed some what later , 300,000,000 years ago . This groups includes many familiar trees such as pines , firs ,spruces , cedars , hemlocks and redwoods all these trees bear their seeds on cones.

* About 150,000,000 years ago , the first flowering plant developed  Their well protected seeds gave them a great advantage over they increased in numbers and kinds . Today these flowering plants are found every day
