why do we have April fools day ?

*it is believed that in france the people celebrated the april fool's day first.

*it so happened that 1564 , a new calebrated was brought about and charles lX ordered that new year would begin on the 1st january.

=>  Till then 1st april was the new year day . and with it was associated exchange of new years gifts . there were may people who still followed the old calendar and celebrated the first april as the new year day .

=>  Other made fun of them and started sending them mock gifts and called them april fools this is the way it started and then became the day when every body tried to fool every body else.
